I was invited up to Manchester by the National Cyber Security Centre, a part of GCHQ, for some event photography of their annual school competition for girls aged 12-13. The day involved 10 teams competing to solve clues, use computer skills and communicate as a team to score points in a role play setup. Part of the brief was to capture candid and natural images of the teams working through the puzzles, along with motivational talks by guests including BBC presenter Steph McGovern, and the final presentations. The event was held at Manchester’s Old Traffic cricket ground, and it made a grand backdrop to the days events. I very nearly never made it to Manchester to photograph the event, as when driving up the night before my car got stuck in the snow in the Peak District, and it took a few hours to get moving again!
