Recently I travelled to The Belfry Hotel at Sutton Coldfield where the execs from Manchester Airport Group were gathering for a few days to discuss the future of their industry, and wanted to update their headshots while everyone was in one place. We did around 45 different people and I usually deliver around 3 fully edited versions per person, to allow for any changes such as hair up or down, jackets on or off, glasses on or off – that sort of thing. This was also the first time I got to use my new curved reflector – I’ve had it for a little while but on previous headshot shoots the space available was too limited to break out the bigger set up. I love the results though and can’t wait to use it again. Here are 10 of the 134 delivered headshots, plus a couple of behind the scenes to show my set up. I used one key light with a white shoot through umbrella and a rim light with a gridded stripbox to put a little lift on the hair or opposite side of the face. My new curved reflector was used to lift shadows under the nose and chin and place an extra sparkle in the eyes, and a second reflector was used to fill in a dark corner of the setup.
