Ben Davis

Cambridge photographer with 20 years experience

I’m Ben Davis, a commercial photographer based near Cambridge with 20 years of professional experience across editorial, magazine and commercial photography.

I started out in 2006 as a press photojournalist on a busy regional newspaper — six years of breaking news, tight deadlines and no second chances. That background shaped everything about how I work: I read a room quickly, I anticipate rather than react, and I get the shot without making a scene. After the newsroom I spent time working for the UK’s biggest photography magazine before moving into commercial photography full time.

Today I work with businesses, brands, schools and organisations across Cambridgeshire and the UK — creating imagery for websites, marketing, prospectuses, events and PR. My clients range from Cambridge science and biotech companies to national school trusts, and from Stansted Airport to small businesses looking to refresh their brand.

I bring a calm, organised approach to every project and work closely with clients to understand how images will be used before we start — so the final library is built around your needs, not just a collection of nice pictures.

I’m based in Swavesey, just outside Cambridge, with my wife and two daughters. Outside of work I play guitar, turn out for a 5-a-side team, and hunt for history with a metal detector — I’ve found a few gold coins but I mainly dig rubbish,  it’s nice to be outside though!
