LifeArc invited me to photograph their flagship internal event, One LifeArc Day, held at the iconic County Hall on London’s South Bank. As a self-funded not-for-profit focused on rare diseases, this was a rare opportunity for the whole organisation to come together in person – to reflect on achievements, recognise outstanding individuals and teams, and look ahead to LifeArc’s future strategy.
The brief was to capture the full story of the day: from keynote speakers and strategic sessions, through to breakout discussions, staff awards and the evening social. The resulting image library was created to support LifeArc’s internal communications, future event promotion, reports, presentations and digital channels.
Capturing the Full Story of a Corporate Conference
A successful conference is about far more than someone on a stage. My approach to event photography is to document the complete experience, creating a balanced library of imagery that reflects both the content and the atmosphere of the day.
For One LifeArc Day, this included:
Keynote Speakers & Leadership Sessions
Candid, well-composed photographs of speakers on stage, capturing expression, presence and engagement with the audience. This included close-ups for communications and PR use, alongside wide shots that show the scale and energy of the room.
Strategic Updates & Spotlight Sessions
Coverage of LifeArc’s strategic direction to 2030 and spotlight sessions throughout the morning and afternoon, creating a visual record of key moments that can be reused across internal reports, presentations and future communications.
Breakout Sessions & Collaboration
Natural, documentary-style images of teams in breakout rooms, discussing, collaborating and engaging with the content. These types of images are invaluable for showing culture, participation and knowledge-sharing in action.
Networking, Lunch & Informal Moments
Wide and candid shots of people connecting during registration, breaks and lunch, helping LifeArc showcase the scale of attendance and the human side of the organisation.
Staff Awards, Recognition & Celebration
A major highlight of the day was the staff awards ceremony, recognising both individuals and teams across multiple categories. These moments are important for internal culture and morale, so I focused on:
